Ampulla



The ampulla is occasionally seen during capsule endoscopy.

LEFT: The ampulla is located in the 12:00 o'clock position.

RIGHT: The ampulla with its open orifice can be seen at center bottom. Bilious fluid fills the lumen of the nondistended duodenum.



LEFT: The ampulla is located in the 8:00 o'clock position and fluid in the lumen is bilious.

RIGHT: A golden upward flow of bile can be seen; it is emanating from the ampulla which is located just out of view at the 6 o'clock position.
